and at home. Purpose:Provide required technical expertise in the
appropriate evaluation of risk and profitability based on sound
actuarial and statistical principles and techniques. Roles &
Responsibilities:Because this role is a part of the rotation
program within Predictive Analytics and Actuarial Services, initial
emphasis will be on building Pricing models using R.
- Prepare and complete actuarial and/or predictive modeling
analysis appropriate for the functional area. May include ultimate
loss projections, pricing studies, rate filings, risk capital
modeling, portfolio analysis, and research projects or claims
analytical studies.
- Participate in the development of actuarial presentations and
present results/topics to managers or other team members.
- Completion of required data preparation, including data input.
Identify data issues requiring specialized actuarial
attention.
- Document and communicate results and alternatives to actuarial
staff and internal customers.
- Modify existing R based tools and expand knowledge of relevant
software, tools and technology such as Databricks, DevOps, Earnix,
etc.
- Participate in the development of new methodologies, products,
and procedures.
- Complete peer reviews.
- Prepare for and pass actuarial exams.
- May assist in the training of new actuarial analysts and/or
data scientists. Required Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical abilities including understanding of advanced
mathematics and statistical concepts including GLMs, Principal
Component Analysis, Clustering techniques, and Regularization
techniques.
- Strong background in Statistical programming in R, Python or
related software for modeling and other analyses. General
programing and data knowledge including SQL.
- Strong command of Excel (including VBA and macros) and other
computer and MS Office Suite applications.
- Proven ability to pass actuarial exams. Skills / Knowledge /
Experience:Level I
- Basic knowledge and understanding of actuarial and predictive
modeling techniques and property/casualty insurance and
reinsurance.
- Still acquiring higher level skills.Level II
- Strong technical actuarial and statistical skills.
- Assists in the training of new actuarial analysts.
- Still acquiring higher level skills.
- Two or more years of insurance/actuarial experience.
- A graduate degree in physics, engineering, applied mathematics,
or statistics may be substituted for experience. Education,
Certifications & Designations:Level I: Bachelor's degree in
Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar background
requiring quantitative analysis. GPA 3.2 or higher. Passed at least
1 exam for CAS designationLevel II: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial
Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar background requiring
quantitative analysis. GPA 3.2 or higher. Passed a minimum of 3
exams for CAS designation. A graduate degree in physics,
engineering, applied mathematics or statistics may be substituted
