ALTA is supporting a 6-month CONTRACT-TO-HIRE opportunity working 100% REMOTE. W2 Contract. No C2C Cannot support Sponsorship Now or in the future upon hire.

All interviews will be held virtually through MS Teams. Contractors may onboard and work remotely. Out-of-state candidates will be accepted.

This position is not intended for a Windows Administrator. Preferred candidates will have Cognos Administration experience. Experience with SAS Administration is considered a nice to have.


Job Summary: This position is part of a team responsible for Cognos administration and configuration. The team also handles deployments of applications to multiple environments and troubleshooting application and process issues.
We have a small team and need an additional Application System Administrator to support our workload and provide backup coverage for other responsibilities. We are specifically looking for someone with 3-5+ years of experience in Cognos and SAS administration.
Experience with TM1 or Linux would be beneficial.
Additional Info: The ideal candidate must be a clear communicator with relevant experience. They should be professional, collaborative, able to work independently and within a team, and capable of handling urgent, critical, or demanding requests.


Duties and Responsibilities: deploy, smoke test, and verify build packages to servers in multiple testing environments
perform application server troubleshooting
monitor and analyze performance of the application servers
create and execute PowerShell and SQL database scripts to automate system administration tasks
develop and submit firewall requests
use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot application issues
provide technical assistance to developers and other IT service areas
validate firewall, load balancer and server configuration changes based on software and service area needed
maintain generic and service accounts
review application-related documentation to identify and communicate pertinent upgrades/enhancement packs
analyze the effects of software/configuration changes on other systems
monitor log files, automate monitoring, and delete log files based on retention guidelines
coordinate software installs and upgrades with IT Infrastructure resources


Qualifications: knowledge of Cognos system application server architecture, administration, and configuration
experience with SQL and PowerShell scripting
strong analytical and problem-solving skills
